The Promo:

Over 10,000 years ago, the D’ni civilization established an underground empire on Earth. The D’ni people developed "The Art of Writing" which allowed them to create "Linking Books" which would allow them to travel to incredible worlds called "Ages."

The D’ni thrived for thousands of years, but suddenly met a great catastrophe that all but destroyed their civilization. Their underground lair was left uninhabited and their Linking Books and Ages were lost - until now.

A group of explorers recently discovered the remnants of the D’ni civilization and have begun restoring the cavern in the hopes of learning the secrets of the D’ni people. The D’ni Restoration Council (DRC) have recently invited you to join them in the cavern and assist with their efforts. Will you? Should you? The choice is yours.

For the first time, you are the storyteller. What happens is up to you.

Update from the website:

The Myst Online: Uru Live beta program is going great and now it's time to really get things started. This week, we added some new elements to this site including a new game trailer, a "making of" video, and some other fun stuff. But more importantly, we can finally announce the December 20th launch of a live "preview" story inside the Myst Online: Uru Live beta. If you have a GameTap account, you are invited to play this new and improved version of the beta game inside GameTap for a special sneak preview of Myst Online. Please not that as this is still a "beta" version of the game, it is not yet complete and includes some known issues that still need to be addressed.

If you'd like to join GameTap and help us test our first "live story" by participating in the Myst Online beta, we're currently offering a special offer of only 99 cents for your first month of service.* Just click here to sign up.

*$9.95 after the first month. Credit card required. Offer valid in the U.S. and Canada only.

Hello, friends :) I have had my Live Journal quite a while, but I have been a Myst/Riven/D'ni addictee for the last 10 years or so ;) I have worked quite a bit on writing my own ages to link to D'ni, and of course have all the games/books etc produced :) Anyhow, I just wanted to say hi to everyone, and I look forward to joining fellow guildmasters and travelers to our beloved ages :)

PS: I just finally today got my Myst 3 soundtrack, I am completely again captivated, and I've only listened to it 5 times today so far!! :D

Dear... ?,

The galpocaching mission was fun! It felt good to relax and romp around the city after my scary little trip to Gahreesehn! ;-) Here's the results...

IS... The center of the Great Zero (Rezeero) Antechamber.

The Great Zero's neutrino beam cannot, for some reason or another, penetrate the walls of Sharper's spyroom, and thus our KI cannot recieve coordinates while we are inside.

Perhaps I'll leave some coordinates for you to find! ;-)

I didn't leave any treasures, but you can tell me what's there, so I know you found it.

Bonus points if you find where your KI won't register, too.

I did it!!!!! Hallelujah! I think I have them working!

Back in the cavern I managed to get semi-useable functionality on the KIs... outgoing communications from the main terminal only. But I was reading through some of the documentation that the DRC left here in Gahreesehn, and I'm pretty sure that I managed to get the KI communication systems working! Funny story tho...

I link in, find the power already on... so I make my way to the second fortress (a trip that took an hour or two... I wish I wasn't so scared of this place) and find the documentation for the KI systems. So I find the panels that the diagrams tell me to find, and I start fiddling with the stuff... when I find out that to go any further, I'm gonna need a KI upgrade. HA! At this point... I laughed histerically at the irony of the situation: me, a neurotic spelunker who's afraid of things that are larger than she is, trying to be an engineer in an Age filled with giant buildings, life-threatening machinery, and loooooong falls.

I needed to go back to the main building.

So after an hour or so of pure anxious fear whilst making my way across the pinnacle, I finally get a new KI. Whee! It's shinier! The DRC must have found them in Zone II (an area to which I still haven't found a means of access. Where the hell are they hiding it?)

Back to the second building. This time taking just over a half an hour... I'm getting better at it.

I spent about a day or so in the second building... sleeping in the corridors (the only place where there weren't creepy maintainer's suits or buzzing imagers.)

By the next day... I had figured it out! Whoohoodeedoo!

So... if you make a trip over to Gahreesen when you get a chance... pick up a nice new shiney KI 2.0!

Oh, and I sent out a message... a simple Hello World. If you get your new KI and recieve it... let me know!

Now I'm gonna get the hell out of Gahreesehn. Toodaloo.
